Our Mission

OUR MISSION

The Ramsey Municipal Alliance (RMA) is a not for profit organization through the Borough of Ramsey staffed by volunteers and community leaders.

The RMA is funded by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA) grant, the borough, and donations from individuals and local businesses. The primary goal of the RMA is to bring our community together to raise healthy children and support our adult population in making smarter choices to reduce substance abuse in Ramsey.

We work closely with many local organizations including Ramsey schools, Stigma Free, Ramsey PD, local Government, and Ramsey Board of Health to provide relevant education to the entire Community.

The RMA has coordinated events regarding Mental Health topics and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Education. We have also sponsored events for other local organizations such as LEAD. In previous years, the RMA coordinated several presentations not limited to Hidden in Plain Sight, Vaping: What Parents and Kids Should Know, How to Talk to Kids: Drugs and Alcohol (co-sponsored with Saddle River), Mental Health First Aid, Legalization of Marijuana: Know the Facts, Sports Injuries and Pain and our annual Meet the Police and Drug Take Back at the Ramsey Farmers Market. We have sponsored students from Ramsey HS and Don Bosco to attend leadership events, and have assisted our local schools to plan assemblies and Parent Academies.

The dedication of our volunteers is indescribable, and we could not be successful without our relationships with community organizations such as the Board of Education, the Mayor and Council, Bergen County Department of Health Services, and the Ramsey Police Department. We meet at Borough Hall the fourth Monday of the month at 7:30 PM. Please email us if you are interested in volunteering or donating to our cause at RamseyMunicipalAlliance@gmail.com. It takes an army to fight a war, and we are proud to be a part of the fight. As one community, we stand united to educate others on substance abuse and its underlying causes. When you see our table at an event, come say hello! You may also follow us at Facebook.com/RamseyAlliance or join our mailing list at http://eepurl.com/dICQYo.

Membership:

Monthly meetings are open to the public, and anyone may attend. Members are appointed by the Mayor. The RMA Chairperson can make recommendations for appointments. All members are expected to be consistently available for meetings and to assist with events. There are several ways to contribute to the organization including coordination of events, completing administrative tasks, and researching speakers and programs. The RMA also encourages students to join. We offer leadership opportunities within the organization, and sponsor leadership training for interested students.
